The UAE is India’s second largest destination for export of electronics goods as India exported electronics goods worth $440 million (Dh1.6 billion) to UAE in 2014-15.

According to Electronics & Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) figures the major electronics items of export to UAE during 2014-15 were mobile phones, audio video machines, personal computers, distribution panels, loudspeakers, transformers and parts, telephone sets and parts, physical or chemical analysis and surveying equipment, voltage stabilisers and invertors and watches and clocks.

The US is India top destination for electronics exports with estimated exports of $1 billion as the Asian giant is aiming to enhance electronics manufacturing facilities spread across the country.

ESC is India’s apex trade promotion organisation mandated to promote the country’s electronics and IT exports globally.

“We have earmarked Dubai as the main thrust of India’s export of software services and hardware. We have seen a great potential in exhibiting in Gitex, said Kamal Vachani, representative of ESC in the region.

On Sunday, India pavilion at Gitex 2015 was inaugurated by Anurag Bhushan, Consul General of India, Dubai, and Dr. Juma Almatrooshi, Senior Executive Vice-President – Commercial, Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority.

“Gitex is continuing to emerge the largest and the most impressive ICT event of its kind in the Middle East. Naturally, India has a great stake in the booming Middle East, Africa, Asia and European markets for which Dubai is the gateway. Thus, the event provides the participating Indian ICT companies opportunities for scouting the expanding Middle East market for opportunities. This year, 48 Indian ICT and electronics companies are exhibiting at the India Pavilion at Gitex,” Vachani said.

The Indian companies will be showcasing power banks, display and touch technologies, computer parts, mobile phones, tablets, GSM products, security products, ATM, printers, power backup, batteries, solar products, CD, DVD, flash drives, LED lights, RFID-based solutions, mini PC, desktop PC, all-in-one PC, handheld devices/portable printers for ticketing, spot billing, field payment collection, digital signage using LED board, rate display board, LCD TVs among others.
