Following the launch of its biodiesel campaign in 2011, McDonald's UAE will hit another milestone on 15th of December 2015 when its fleet logistics trucks will reach across 5,000,000 km running on 100 per cent recycled vegetable oil from McDonald’s UAE outlets.

Introducing the initiative in the UAE in July 2011 with the support of Dubai FDI, each of the 16 trucks is collecting used cooking oil from McDonald’s outlets across the UAE once to twice a day and converts it into 100% biodiesel by its clean tech partner, Neutral Fuels. The biodiesel is then used to fuel the company’s logistics fleet.

Rafic Fakih, Managing Director and Partner at McDonald’s UAE, said it’s an incredible result which has made a significant contribution to the reduction of carbon footprint in the Emirates.

As claimed by the World Bank figures, this saving is equivalent to 214,283 UAE average citizens carbon footprint for one year.

Karl Feilder, Chairman of Neutral Fuels, said running vehicles on 100% biofuel is a safe, logical, and sustainable course of action.
