Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will only be on limited availability and may not even be up for sale at any of the retail outlets here in the UAE, at least not for the next few months.

This was revealed by Hayssam Yassine, Head of Telecommunications Group at Samsung Gulf Electronics during the official unveiling of the Note Edge in Dubai as part of the Galaxy Note 4 World Tour series. Dubai will be one of the six cities in the world where the Note Edge will arrive, probably by the second week of November.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is already available for pre order in Japan and some European markets.

Although officially the UAE retail price for the Edge was not revealed, it is currently set at £650 in the UK and €999 in Germany and will be priced along similar lines or even cheaper, minus the VAT.

When asked when could we expect the device at retail outlets Yassine said, "It will only be available in very limited quantity. It may not even go up for sale at retail outlets. We are yet to figure out how to go about the process. May be it will only be sold to select customers who receive special invitations."

Samsung unveiled both the Note 4 – a successor to the Note 3 - and the Note Edge, which comes with a curved second screen on the edge and displays notifications and alerts, on September 3 at the IFA in Berlin, ahead of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

The galaxy Note 4 was however available for pre-bookings during the recently concluded Gitex Shopper. The device is scheduled for release in the local market on October 17.

"We have already delivered the devices to most of our retail partners. The pre-orders were beyond what we expected. In fact we had to order more devices than what we had originally intended," said
