The iPhone 5s and 5c are still at the pre-order stage in the UAE, officially of course, but we are already getting primed for the iPhone 6.

This iPhone, according to the Apple rumour mill is all about the bigger screen.

Apple might be finally planning a five-inch plus phablet-styled iPhone to be released in 2014.

Although many expected the iPhone 5s to have a larger screen size, Apple decided to keep it at 4 inches.

According to reports quoting analysts, Apple has already started work on two different displays a 4.7-inch and a 5.7-inch screen.

Reports quoting Jefferies analyst Peter Misek says he believes Apple could be working on a 4.6- inch iPhone 6, while analyst David Hsieh says his sources within the supply chain have confirmed that Apple is testing a 4.7-inch and a 5.7inch iPhone screen.

Apple’s other major rivals including Samsung have already come out with several phablet sized devices ranging from between 5.5- to 6.3-inches.

Nokia last week announced two 6-inch phablet phones to cater to the growing demand.

Electronics giant Sharp is said to soon start production of its IGZO displays for smartphones and the next iPhone, could be based on the new displays by Sharp, thereby moving away from its dependence on Samsung.

IGZO (indium gallium zinc oxide semiconductor) is a new technology developed by Sharp, which allows smaller pixels and creates a much higher definition.

Sharp is already planning to launch two new smartphones with the IGZO displays soon.

Apple deploying this screen would increase its own pixel density from 326ppi to 487ppi.
