Come March 2015, and we would be gearing up for the Samsung Galaxy S6, the next edition of the popular S series.

There are already rumours about what Samsung might be planning as it tries to once again wrest control of the smartphones segment from Apple.

According to latest reports emerging from Korea, the S6 might come with curved edges on both sides of the screen.

Samsung’s limited edition Note Edge, which was announced earlier this year comes with a curved screen on one side (right). Although Samsung has started retailing the product in some select markets, availability is scarce and as one senior Samsung official recently told Emirates 24|7 the Edge was just an experiment to test the market.

According to a report by Korea Herald, the market expects Samsung to come out with a new innovative product.

The report quotes Senior Analyst of IHD Technology, Jerry Kang as stating during a recent IHS Display Analyst conference that “The Galaxy S6 to be released next year will feature a 'dual-edged' screen which is curved on the right and left sides."

The company’s operating profit during the third quarter this year registered a 60 per cent drop compared to the same period last year.

"The dual Edge is expected to be Beneficial for Samsung Display… as larger Displays Bring More Profit," Kang is reported to have said.

According to him, the initial idea was to put dual edged screens on both sides of the Note Edge, but Samsung abandoned the plan at the last minute.

Usually, Samsung announces its new Galaxy S series during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona and next year too it could do the same. The MWC is scheduled to be held in March next year.

The Galaxy S6, which is code-named ‘Project Zero’, may also have features such as aQuad HD (2560 x 1440) display, a 64-bit processor, and an enhanced camera.
