Police in Ajman found a 12-year-old boy dead on the emirate’s beaches after drowning while swimming, a newspaper reported on Monday.
Relatives had reported the boy missing on Thursday while a group of Filipinos who happened to be at the beach on that day told police they saw a body floating on the water. Police divers searched the water most of the day but did not find the body, according to the Arabic language daily Emarat Alyoum, which did not identify the boy.
Ajman’s police chief Brigadier Ali Alwan said the body was found on the beach on the next day after it was pushed onshore by the waves and sea currents.
“The body has been sent to the coroner to determine the exact cause of death,” he said.
