The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance awarded four Pakistanis one year in jail each for possessing fake Indian currency worth INR4.7 million.

All four of them were ordered to pay Dh50,000 fine and will be deported after serving their sentence.

Police received a tip-off about a group of four people possessing fake currency worth Rs4,727,000. They were also informed that the four of them planned to exchange the huge amount for UAE dirhams.

The exchange owner who informed the police, agreed with the cops to buy the amount in order to help arrest the accused red-handed.

The three accused confessed to possessing fake Indian Rupees which they claimed they had received from AR, 30, sales executive.

Police arrested AR from a hotel in Dubai.

Further investigation proved that the fake notes were well emulated and it would have been difficult for an ordinary person to notice the difference.

Both MA and SN admitted to possessing the notes but claimed they were not aware the notes were fake. The driver MF and the sales representative AR denied before the court any relation to the fake notes.
