Law enforcers from four emirates joined hands to seize nearly 55kg of heroin and arrest two Asian drug dealers in one of the biggest joint anti-narcotics operation in the country, according to police.

The ‘Operation Al Saadi’, named after the area where the drug dealers were busted, was launched in mid-April by counter-narcotics authorities from Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah and targeted two major Asian drug dealers in Diba, Fujairah.

The operation followed a tip-off that the two Asians had managed to smuggle heroin and were preparing to sell the amount inside the UAE.

“The counter-drugs department in the interior ministry also took part in the operation, which resulted in the seizure of 55kg of heroin and the arrest of the two dealers,” said Colonel Eid Mohammed Hareb, director of the counter-drugs division in Dubai’s police.
