Awadh, a nine-year old boy suffering from autism, died of suspected food poisoning at the Al Baraha area of Dubai.

The Indian family hails from Chavakkadu, Kerala, and the mother and father Firoz and Zeenath, are also in hospital, but out of danger.

According to sources, the family of four, father, mother and two sons, Awadh and his 15-year old brother, were admitted to a Dubai Government hospital on Saturday morning following persistent vomiting and dizziness.

The family members ate at a popular food chain serving fried chicken, but there was one other relative who ate with them there who did not fall sick.

The family are suspecting various reasons, including the possibility of pest control medicine sprayed in a house adjacent to theirs.

“Police are still investigating the cause of death,” one source close to the family told this website.

Killer beheaded and crucified for killing, then raping woman's body

A Sudanese man was beheaded and then crucified in Saudi Arabia after he was convicted of murdering a local woman before having sex with her.

He then stole SR165,000 (Dh162,000) and tried to kill the other family members.

During trial, the defendant confessed to murdering the Saudi housewife by strangling her while asleep. He then had sex with her, stole her money and jewelry and fled after opening the gas cylinder to kill the other family members.

The court sentenced him to death and crucifixion, prompting him to appeal. But the appeals court gave him the same sentence, which was upheld by the supreme court and endorsed by King Abdullah.

The defendant, identified as Abdul Rahman Zain Al Abidin, was executed in public in the capital Riyadh on Friday, Ajel newspaper said.

Old man walks 10km in desert to save friend

An old Saudi man suffering from thirst struggled to walk nearly 10 km in the hot arid desert in the Gulf kingdom to save his unconscious friend after the two went out of their way and got lost, a newspaper said on Sunday.

The two old men were on a hunting trip in their four-wheel car when they got out of the way and wandered aimlessly in the desert in northwestern Saudi Arabia before their car was stuck in the sand.
