Al Ain ATM dragged away after tying it to SUV

Police in Al Ain have arrested four brothers on suspicion of dragging away an ATM machine after tying to a stolen SUV vehicle.

The ATM machine was found at some distance from the branch of the bank from where it was stolen. The gang could not steal money from the ATM though it had broken into four parts after being dragged down the road. The thieves had hurriedly abandoned the ATM when they saw someone on the road

Brigadier Hamad Ajlan Al Amaimi, Director of Al Ain Police, said the glass door of the ATM door was broken when police reach the bank’s branch. The SUV used in the crime was found abandoned on a desert road.

The vehicle was stolen from a car showroom in Abu Dhabi. Its number plate was also stolen.

Police said the arrested brothers have confessed to the crime and had admitted they were trying to steal the money inside the ATM.

Brigadier Al Amaimi said this was the first time such a crime was committed in Al Ain.
