Astrologer jumps to her death after house fire

Famous ancient Arab poet Abu Tayeb Al Mutanabbi once wrote that astrologers are liars even if some of their predictions come true.

This view was given credence on Monday when a famous Kuwaiti astrologer jumped to death from her apartment in the fifth level to escape a massive blaze that gutted the flat.

“Umm Ali failed to predict the fire and jumped to her death,” the Kuwait Arabic language daily Alanba said in a headline.

Born in Kuwait in 1957, Umm Ali had often hit headlines in Kuwait and other Gulf countries with her bold predictions while she had been the star guest of a local television station to give viewers insight into their future.

“Umm Ali fell on her head and died on impact after the unpredicted fire engulfed her apartment in Houli area,” the paper said.

It quoted police as saying they were investigating the incident but that preliminary examination ruled out arson.

Umm Ali, identified by her initials as AMR, had made hundreds of predictions about wars, death of leaders, volcanoes and other incidents.

What happened to her on Monday is reminiscent of the death of one of the Arab world’s most prominent astrologers Hameed Al Azri, who once was the “dean of the world’s astrologers association.”

Al Azri had foretold the death of some presidents and other famous personalities but had failed to foretell his own death.

In a newspaper interview in the UAE 15 years ago, he was so accurate in his forecasts that he even presented dates for the expected death of some leaders. Three days later, he was found dead in his flat in Paris.

The paper which conducted the interview with him then said :”Al Azri foretold the death of many people but failed to foretell his own death. In the interview he mentioned dates of the expected deaths but did not mention himself.”
