A young Emirati, who allegedly attacked his compatriot friend and caused him 20 per cent permanent disability, is suspected to have injured himself with the aim of shifting the blame to the victim.

The victim’s brother testified that on April 16, 2012, his brother went out into the yard of the house to drink water.

“A few minutes later, I heard my brother screaming and shouting for help. I rushed out and saw KKH and other youths hitting my brother with a sharp tool. When they saw me, they ran away. I called the police who came and rushed my brother to Rashid Hospital,” testified HN, 22, the victim’s brother.

Searching for attackers, police found out that KKH is being treated at the Iranian Hospital for minor injuries.

“I checked his condition and found out that he had minor injuries on his back while his shirt was torn at one side which was contradictory. Also, his shirt was not torn at the back despite the injury,” testified Lieutenant Saif Saeed.

Forensic reported that the victim sustained a permanent disability in his left leg estimated at 20 per cent. It also reported that the accused had minor wounds in his back and a 5 cm-long minor wound in his left arm. Due to the nature of the wounds, they are suspected to have been inflicted by the accused himself.
