Writing bad cheques topped the list of crimes committed on the Palm Jumeirah, according to Lt. Col. Abdullah Al Maziod, Director, Dubai Ports Police Station.

Lt Col Al Maziod said there were nine cases of bad cheques issued during the first 10 months of this year compared to 11 such cases in 2010 in Palm Jumeirah.

“Palm Jumeirah falls within the range of the ports police station whose statistics indicate that the police got 49 tip-offs in the first 10 months of 2011 compared to 74 in 2010,” he said.

After bad cheques, second in the list of crimes on Palm Jumeirah was possession and trading of beverages. Six such cases were reported in the first 10 months of this year.

Three breach-of-trust crimes were recorded and two each of insults, threats, theft, attempted theft, fraud and return after deportation during this period, Al Maziod said.

This was followed by one case each of indecent assault of a minor, theft by employees, forgery, possession of firearm and damage to property.
