Cabbie in jail for raping 'special needs' woman

A Pakistani taxi driver, who was awarded by the first instance court five years in jail for raping a mentally challenged woman by pushing her into a room he leased from a friend, had his sentence upheld by the Court of Appeal.

AF, 33, was also ordered to be deported after serving his jail term.
 
According to the records, on November 7, the victim, ZM, from Comoros reported being raped by a taxi driver at Fareej Al Marrar.
 
“I took a taxi from Sharjah and at Fareej Al Marrar the driver took me to a flat where he abused me sexually and left me in the same area,” the victim told First Lieutenant Obaid Dhaen.
 
Police went along with the victim to the flat and found out that a Bangladeshi hotel manager AM had rented the flat to AF.
 
Two days later, police arrested the taxi driver in Hor Al Anz area on rape allegations.
 
DNA test proved the allegations.
 
Forensic reported that the woman had been abused several times.
 
The victim was referred to Rashid hospital to check her mental and psychological status and whether her condition was as a result of the rape.
 
Rashid hospital reported that the woman was 'special' which was a resulted of a traffic accident thats he had met with when she was two years old.
 
It also reported that the woman could be held responsible for her behaviour.
 
AF has been accused of rape charge.
 
AR, who offered the room to his friend, was acquitted from criminal complicity charge.
 
Head of Prosecution, Mohammed Hussain, had asked the court to implement stiff penalty against the accused.
