Two Sudanese students, both aged 20, allegedly assaulted a compatriot for dating a step-sister of one of them.

AAW and HYM beat AMO, 17, student, in the parking lot of Dubai’s Festival City and caused him three per cent permanent disability.

The victim testified while he was sitting with a girl called ‘S’ in a restaurant in Festival City on June 29 at around 12.30pm,  a man approached him and asked him to accompany him.

“He claimed he was the girl’s uncle. On reaching to the parking lot, there were eight people including HYM who started beating me. Then the man who approached me joined them in beating and kicking me until I fainted. The security guard intervened and then my brother arrived and rushed me to the hospital. I learnt from ‘S’ that HYM is her step brother,” he testified.

Forensic reported that the victim sustained scratches and bruises in different parts of his body. He also sustained a fracture in his skull with an estimated permanent disability of 3 per cent.

The court will reconvene on November 14.
