A delivery man of a restaurant who went to deliver a parcel to a customer in Dubai’s Mirdiff area and attempted to rape her, is now cooling his heels behind bars and will be deported after three years.
The Syrian accused, 25, was on duty when he knocked at the door of the Arab female customer at mid-morning on May 27.
When the woman answered the door, her cat sneaked out to the courtyard. The accused after handing over the parcel, helped her catch the cat and followed her inside the flat “without her consent”.
Once inside, he gagged her mouth and tried to undress her. However, according to the victim’s testimony in court, she resisted all his attempts and scratched his neck, forcing him to leave her alone and flee the place.
Forensic report confirmed the victim’s nail marks on the accused’s body.
The cook told investigating officials that he was lured towards the woman by seeing her in a nightdress and confessed to the crime.
