Diesel stealers get six months in prison

Two Pakistanis who stole about 590 litres of diesel from a tank at an Etisalat station were sentenced to six months in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

MY, 26, shepherd, and TA, 29, driver, are also ordered to be deported after serving their jail terms.

According to the records, Etisalat technicians learnt about the theft after receiving complaints about a failure in the service.

Technicians headed to the station and found out that the cap of the diesel tank was open, its lock was missing and the tank was empty.

The value of the stolen diesel is Dh1,930.

Four months later, police learnt about the involvement of MY, 26, shepherd, and TA, 29, driver in a number of diesel thefts so the two were arrested.

The two admitted to stealing the diesel from the Etisalat station after breaking the lock using a welding machine and a screw driver.
