Drunk man tries to kill brother

A drunk Arab man tried to murder his brother by stabbing him many times at home but fled after their sister started to scream, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

The 25-year-old man was in the kitchen arguing with his younger brother, 22, before pulling a knife and stabbing him three times in his back. When his brother turned to him, he stabbed him in the waist and was about to stab him more but fled when their sister entered the kitchen and began screaming.

Police said both brothers had liquor before the fight, which the victim said was triggered by his brother. But the elder brother said he tried to defend himself after his younger brother pushed him down on the floor and tried to strangle him.

Alkhaleej newspaper said the victim remained in hospital in a stable condition while his brother was referred by the prosecutor to court.
