An elderly Omani fish importer has been accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy when he went down his building to play with other boys, the Dubai Criminal Court was told on Thursday.

The Dubai Prosecution asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the 62-year-old MB.

The boy, MR, Indian student, went to play cricket with his friends near his building when the accused approached him and was talking to him in Indian language.

“He told me if I want some cold drink. I replied negatively; he held my hand and put two dirhams then he hugged me and kissed my lips before pulling me to a nearby building’s lift and he did it again in the street. He then dragged me to a room on the roof and in the room he molested me. All of a sudden two men came in and caught the man,” the boy told investigators.

A cleaner at a nearby restaurant and a messenger who lived in the area saw the man pushing the boy into the building so they decided to follow them.

“I suspected the man and followed them into the building. I searched the building with the messenger MM. We searched each floor for the two before finding them on the roof. The man was showing his private part. I pulled them down the building and informed the police,” JM 31, Bangladeshi, told investigators.

The messenger repeated similar testimony saying that the man was under the influence of alcohol.

The accused admitted to the crime before the police which found a bed on the roof.

He told police that he wanted to have sex after consuming alcohol.

“I saw the boy and liked him; so I gave him dirhams and offered him a cold drink. I pulled him from his hand to the roof of the building and molested him. I wanted to sodomise him,” the accused confessed before the police.

However, the accused denied charges of molestation and consuming alcohol when appeared before the court.

The court adjourned the case till September 1.
