Disaster struck at an Emirati family in Fujairah when its 16-year-old boy committed a suicide inside his room just as its members were about to break their fasting for a long, hot summer day.
His mother found him hanging when she entered his room just after 7.00 pm to call him for Iftar (Ramadan evening meal), the press said.
The other members of the family rushed into the room after the mother started to scream but the boy was already dead.
“He used a rope to hang himself inside his room…the body was taken to the coroner to determine the exact cause of death while police are investigating the motives for his act,” the Arabic language daily 'Al Bayan' said.
