A jobless Emirati has allegedly threatened his compatriot via a message on Facebook asking her not to make her testimony in court if it is against him, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MAA, 24, employee, testified that the accused was terminated by his employer, Al Rustamani Group, following a complaint reported by the employees to the administration. He lodged a labour complaint. “He was notified me and my colleagues will make our testimony. He started defaming and threatening me on his Facebook page. He also sent me messages from his mobile threatening me that if I do not remove my name from the witnesses list, he shall inform my father about relationships, he claimed. I have had with a Syrian employee in the company and another person in Abu Dhabi. He also threatened me to remove my name from the list and refrain from going to Dubai Courts otherwise he would post my pictures (on Facebook).”

He also asked her to submit her resignation from work as he was hoping he will win the labour case and to return to work, so he did not want to see her in the work after his return, according to the record.

The accused confessed to posting the text on Facebook as well as to sending threat messages to the victim’s mobile. The court adjourned the case for verdict till November 28.
