Female driver without licence kills 1, hurts 4

An Emirati woman travelling at high speed without driving licence killed an Asian man and injured four others as they waited near the road for their company bus in Ras Al Khaimah.

A court in the northern emirate sentenced the woman to two months in jail, fined her Dh3,000 and ordered her to pay Dh200,000 diya (blood money) to the relatives of the victim.

The Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said the four suffered from light to medium injuries but did not identify the driver.

    They called her a woman, not a child or girl so why are people assuming she is underage? We do not call underage people "woman"! Plus why were her parents not convicted of the crime? We are convicting parents if their kids fall out of windows, why are we not convicting parents for letting their kids drive and kill people? She deserves several years in prison and if underage her parents deserve it! There are way too many people out there who look too young to drive yet are.

    The girl is minor and also it was unintentional killing. In such case 2 months is reasonable. Also she is paying AED 200,000/- from her own or parents pockets because insurance is not covered in such cases. So what else do you want.

    If she's an underaged girl, which probably she is, can not the parents be liable to their irresponsibility in allowing this young person that is their daughter to drive? God bless the soul of her victim!

    She should be hanged! If i was related to the victim (God forbid), I would only plea for her to get the death penalty!
