Jobless man on trial for Dubai burglary

A jobless man allegedly burgled a company’s office and stole Dh10,000 in cash and electronic products worth a total of Dh20,000 besides gold coins valued at Dh1,600, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

VA, 29, is also accused of damaging the accountant’s desk, glass partitions, walls and two safes, the damages totalling Dh32,100.

According to court records, on August 13, 2012, the accused burgled the shop in Muraqqabat after breaking a window at the back of the office.

On the following day, the manager of the company, MH, 42, Indian, learnt about the theft from a worker. He went to the company and discovered the cash and other things missing.

Police learnt about the involvement of VA in the theft. The accused was trapped and arrested on August 20. Police confiscated large quantity of different things including this company’s missing things.

VA admitted to burgling this company’s office besides committing a number of thefts with the help of another person.

The court will give its sentence on November 24.
