Laptops stolen from shop sold at half price

Four Asians broke into an electronics shop and stole a large number of laptops with a value of nearly half a million dirham, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

In May 2014, Police received a complaint from the shop’s owner about the theft of 286 laptops which valued a total of Dh456,000.

Police found after investigating the complaint that there were more thefts committed in Al Rifaa area.

Police arrested JK, 27, Pakistani, JZ, 24, MK, 25, SB, 20, Afghanis, for their involvement in the two thefts.

The accused admitted stealing the laptops which they had sold for Dh1,000 per laptop.

Police also arrested MA, 36 and AB, 24, Pakistanis, for buying the stolen laptops.

Police confiscated some of the stolen items in an electronic shop in Naif area where AB worked as a salesman.

In February, the accused were awarded three-year jail for the first theft they had committed.

The court will reconvene on April 27.
