A Kenyan maid allegedly told her employer’s children to eat and have a bath at knife-point, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On June 2, the mother of the children, KA, 30, Emirati secretary returned home from college at around 8.30pm.

The maid of her mother-in-law told her that MN, 31, used to hit her three sons aged six, two and one with a wooden spoon all over their bodies.

She also told her that MN used to threaten her children with a knife to make them do what told them to do.

“The maid had proof of what she was saying. She showed me a recording on her mobile phone.  It was shocking for me to see that my maid had beaten my children with a wooden spoon and threatened to kill them if they do not take a bath or eat.

“When I confronted her with the recording, she coldly said that she was disciplining them,” the mother told investigators.

The accused told investigators that she was scaring the boys with a knife to make them eat and had beaten them to control their bad behaviour.

The informer told prosecutors that she had recorded her co-worker because she used to hit and threaten the children every day. Her recording was made two weeks before informing the children’s mother.

The court will give its sentence on November 4.
