Maid ran gambling den from her Dubai house

A Filipina housemaid allegedly ran a gambling den from her with help from a woman compatriot, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Police was tipped off about two women running a gambling den in a building in Jafliya. After checking the authenticity of the information, police raided the flat on February 25, arrested the two women AK, 37, tenant of the house, and her assistant AJ, 32.

Police also arrested other seven Filipinos who were sitting around a gambling table with cards and tokens on it. The men accused of gambling are RD, 28, cleaner, KK, 49, store keeper, MA, 38, auditor, RR, 38, medical staff, RB, 41, collector, DJ, 57, unemployed, WD, 32, employee.

All the accused admitted to their crime except the woman who was helping to run the den and one of the gamblers.

The Court will give its verdict on April 27.
