SW, a 31-year-old Kenyan housemaid, allegedly stole toys besides money from her employer’s house, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

KL, 49, Jordanian auditor, told police that his wife found some missing cash and toys in the housemaid’s bag.

“I had offered her sponsorship and Dh800 monthly salary and had been paying her salary regularly over the eight months that she had been working for us. When my wife noticed that some cash was missing, she checked her bag. In one of her bags, my wife found money and some toys belonging to my children,” KL told police.

His wife MM, 51, Jordanian consultant, told police that she noticed that Dh2,110 and some toys were missing.

“I suspected the housemaid stealing money from the house as some amounts had gone missing several times. However, on the day of the incident, Dh2,110 was missing, so I immediately searched the maid’s bag. I found the amount and some toys worth about Dh50-60,” MM told police.

The maid admitted to stealing the money. She also admitted to stealing the toys but did not give any reason why she stole them.

The court will give its sentence on September 14.
