Maid takes boss phone, calls for Dh14,000

Indonesian maid, AB, 32, allegedly stole her employer’s mobile phone and made international calls worth Dh14,000, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.
 
Her employer SS, received an Etisalat bill of Dh14,000. Looking for the mobile in the wardrobe where he was keeping it, he did not find it. The bill included international calls to Indonesia.
 
He informed the police accusing the maid of stealing the mobile and Etisalat service.
 
“She is the only one who enters the room and cleans it… we do not have any other maid. She had made international calls from the land line. I had forgiven her at that time but it seems that she continued making international calls from my mobile phone,” SS told the police.
 
Police arrived in the house and when asked about the mobile, she pulled it out from her pocket. However, it did not have a SIM card in it.
 
SS told investigators that he was not using the mobile and he transferred calls on that card to another card which he uses. He kept the mobile in his wardrobe that was kept unlocked.

The accused admitted to the charge.
 
 The court will give verdict next month.
