Man kidnaps girlfriend, threatens to kill her for not marrying him

A young man allegedly kidnapped and threatened to kill his girlfriend after she refused to marry him, reported Arabic daily ‘Al Bayan’.

Details of the incident, which was heard by the Dubai Criminal Court on Sunday, reportedly dated back to 2015 when the young man, an Arab national, kidnapped the girlfriend after he consistently failed to convince her to marry him.

Depressed from her refusal, the young man kidnapped her to an isolated place where he asked her again to marry him, holding a knife to kill her if she refused.

The girl, working as a security guard at a mall in Dubai, reported the matter to Dubai Police, claiming that she met the accused through a mutual friend and was involved in a relationship with him for five months.

She added that on the day of incident she was surprised to see him standing in front of her office.

Accepting his proposal under duress, the victim told the accused that she would call him again to agree on details of marriage; she then asked him to drop her to the office. Then she went straight to the police station where she lodged a complaint against him. The accused was arrested and produced before the court under the charges of kidnapping and threatening to kill the victim.
