A manager who raped a Filipina visitor at the pretext of interviewing her for a job has been sentenced to life term.

The Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the sentence awarded by the Court of First Instance.

The incident took place after the victim, MFD, 24, placed an advertisement on Dubizlle.

The accused contacted her and asked her to attend a job interview. They mutually agreed to meet at the Ibn Battuta Metro station. But when he arrived he asked only her to accompany him to his office. She got into his car and he drove her to a house. "He took me to the fifth floor of a residential building. That's when my sister's friend called me and expressed my concern. On hearing me, he asked me for my CV and said there's nothing to worry. But when I handed over the CV he pulled me by my hand and forced me down. As I tried making a call he snatched my mobile and flung it away...He threatened me by saying that if I continued resisting his attempts he would call his friends who would all then rape me..." testified MFD.

He later dropped her back at the mall where her sister informed the cops.

Meanwhile, First Seargent Walid Juma testified that the accused confessed to taking the victim from Ibn Battuta Mall after finding her CV on internet. He claimed that she wanted to work as a maid. He also confessed to taking her home but said that they had mutually agreed to have sex and she had agreed to be paid Dh4,000. He added that she was offended when he paid her only Dh500 and filed a fasle report with the cops.

Two policemen who went to the mall testified that the victim was crying and had told them that she had been raped.
