Money at heart of student killing: Police

Investigations by Sharjah Police into the brutal killing and torture of a 19-year-old Kuwaiti student of the University of Sharjah have revealed that money owed was at the heart of the deadly dispute.

The student, MM, was killed by two of his friends after being tortured and brutally beaten up.

According to a report in local daily Gulf Today, the Sharjah Police CID investigation led them to a a rented flat in the Bu Daneq area.

YS, a friend who took Mubarak to the hospital in critical condition, revealed to the police that he, along with another friend H.M, had repeatedly assaulted Mubarak for three days at the flat before he died.

The report states that YS also said that the deceased stayed with him at his flat sometimes and that HM regularly visited until a fight over money erupted between MM and YS, leading to ythe brutally assault.

Brigadier Abdallah Mubarak Al Dokhan, Deputy Director of Sharjah Police denied initial reports that the crime occurred at the university dormitory or hostel.

Sharjah Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old Kuwaiti student of the University of Sharjah, found dead.

Initial forensic investigations revealed that the student had been beaten to death by more than one person.

After being informed about the violence, police rushed to the scene and found the body of the student, identified as MMM, in a pool of blood.

The police immediately launched an investigation which resulted in the arrest of two other students, said to be his friends and of the same nationality.

The students who were arrested, YS, 19, and HJ, 18, confessed to the crime.
