Money changer staff held for stealing jewellery

Sharjah Police has arrested AB, Indian national, for stealing gold and diamond-studded gold jewellery worth Dh225,000.

Police was informed by MQH, Emirati, that someone had entered his sister’s house and stolen gold and diamond-studded gold jewellery worth about Dh225,000.

Police found that there was no sign of any break-in at the house. Police then learnt that the box containing jewellery had been sent to a money changer some months ago for safe keeping.

Suspecting a worker at the money changer, the police confronted him who admitted to stealing the jewellery from the box in the safe in the shop. He had sold the stolen jewellery in a shop for Dh34,700.
