Pilot locks friend in Mirdiff, drives her car

A 28-year-old American pilot, SAM, allegedly confined a female friend in his flat in Mirdiff and drove away her car, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim HAS, 23, Bahraini, testified that she is a friend of SAM and on October 10, at around 9am she went to his flat in Mirdif. There was asked him to hand over a receipt of her passport which was kept at Al Rashidiya Police Station as a guarantee for a traffic accident.

“He refused to give me the receipt so I started searching it. While I was busy searching the receipt, he took my car key and mobile and left the flat locking the main door. I opened the window and sought people’s help but nobody heard me.

"I tried to jump from the window but was scared; then I called police and it released me. I was confined for about an hour. I believe he locked me in the flat to take revenge of being angry at him,” she testified.

The prosecution noted that the accused was arrested in Abu Dhabi driving the victim’s car.

He confessed to confining the victim in his flat.

The court adjourned the case for verdict till December 18.
