An Iranian sailor was sentenced to ten years in prison for possessing more than 50kg of hashish for sale and for consuming drugs.

QN, 25, was also ordered by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance to pay Dh20,000 as fine and to be deported after serving his jail term.

Dubai Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department received a tip off about an Iranian sailor intending to handover 50kg to a police informer against Dh10,000.

A policeman was assigned to communicate with the dealer and get a sample.

“While communicating with the dealer through the informer, I asked him for a sample. He asked me to go to the public toilet in Anchor 5. I went there and did not saw anyone. I enquired about the dealer’s location. The dealer, who did not appear at the scene, informed that I should pick up a plastic sack near the toilet’s window. I found the sack which I handed over to the department,” said Corporal Juma.

A police officer was assigned to arrest the accused while handing over the drug. The officer accompanied the informer and went to Anchor 5 where the drug was to be handed over.

A man wearing only shorts appeared with a large sack on trolley. When he put the sack inside the car, policemen arrested him.
