A Pakistani salesman was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment after he was convicted of forgery.

The accused nicknamed as Nair aka ASZ , 38, conned a tenant of Dh42,000 and fake tenancy contract.

The tenant Hassan Saleh, 63, testified that he had rented the flat for his son. “We searched the internet and there was an advertisement. We called the number of a person called ‘Nair’ given in the ad and upon seeing the flat agreed to rent one of them,” Hassan said.

The convict took the entire of Dh39,000 from Hassan and charged additional Dhs 3000. “He said Dh1,000 was electricity and water deposit,” added Hassan.

In a span of 45 days the tenants received a call from Mohammed Yousef claiming that he was the real owner of the flat who filed a complaint with police.

ASZ had leased the flat from its real owner and then sub-let it by forging the ownership certificate which he had. He failed to pay the real owner the rent of the flat and sub let the flat.

Hassan was then informed that ASZ had several cases against him for forgery for approximately Dh 2m.

ASZ will be deported after the completion of his sentence.
