A Filipina secretary allegedly forged the signature of her employer on six cheques and defrauded the company of Dh161,800, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The employer and owner of two companies was informed by the accountant that the amount had been withdrawn from the accounts of the two companies with six cheques.

“Checking with the bank, we found out that the money was withdrawn by the driver who later confirmed the withdrawals via cheques and handing the amounts over to MB as per her instructions.

“The driver thought the withdrawals of the amounts were as per my request.

For me, this was strange as I never issue cash cheques but rather account transfer cheques. We found out that my signature was forged on the six cheques. When confronting with the evidence, the accused admitted to issuing the cheques and forging the signature,” testified the companies’ owner and manager.

The Court will reconvene on July 10.
