A two-year-old Egyptian girl died of food poisoning after having sweets and packed crisps bought in Sharjah while her elder brother escaped.

Doctors at Al Qassimi Hospital said Habiba Abdul Rahman died of dehydration that also affected her heart following persistent vomiting and diarrhea while they managed to save her six-year-old brother.

The father, Hisham Abdul Rahman, said his children suffered from severe stomach pains, vomiting and diarrhea after having packed crisp, juice and sweets bought from local shops and a mall in the emirate.

“Habiba was treated at a special medical centre and taken home on Friday…at home, she had another vomiting bout and was rushed to hospital again…doctors tried to save her but she died..her brother Abdul Rahman is still in hospital in stable condition,” Sharjah-based Al Khaleej daily said.
