Sharjah varsity Imam stabbed by ex-student

A former student in the American university in Sharjah stabbed the Imam (preacher) of the university mosque during an argument at the campus on Wednesday.

Police arrested the ex-student who was visiting friends at the university when he had an argument with the preacher and other students.

Police said the Imam suffered from light wounds and was taken to hospital just after the accident, which prompted the management to briefly close the university.

According to Dubai-based Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum, the student appeared to be suffering from psychological problems and that he lost his temper because he had not had his medicine for two days. It did not identify the student and the preacher.
