Two Bangladeshi men were convicted on Tuesday for possessing forged Rs3million.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced MAA (30) and AAS (28) to six months in jail followed by deportation. They
are also ordered to pay Dh2,000 fine.

While they were found guilty for possession they were declared innocent of attempting to smuggle the forged notes.

MAA and FAS had also planned to send the money to Bangladesh through a friend, FAM, under the guise of handing over 'cream'.

MAA, who works under the name of Imam at a mosque in Ajman called his friend, FAM and asked him if he could visit AAS and collect the cargo. He agreed.

AAS, who also works as Imam at a mosque received a call from FAM and told him that he didn’t have the bag. It was with someone called Robin.

The co-conspirator went on to say that Robin would give him the bag at the airport.

On the day of the flight, Robin arrived at unsuspecting FAM’s doorstep with his driver, to take him to the airport. Upon arrival they handed him the bag. While he was checking in, a large amount of cash was found in the bag he was carrying. He was duly handed over to the police.
