Two kill woman after raping her in Abu Dhabi

Two Asian men strangled a woman to death after raping her at her home in Abu Dhabi, prompting the prosecutor to demand their execution.

But a court sentenced them to three years in prison after the relatives of the Asian victim accepted Dh100,000 diya (blood money).

After the sentence, the prosecutor appealed for stiffer punishment on charges of premeditated murder, adultery and theft as the two also robbed their victim after raping and killing her, according to local newspapers.

The appeals court upheld that sentence, prompting the prosecutor to appeal again with the court of cassation, which ordered their trial with a new panel of judges.

Court records showed the two, after taking turns of raping the woman, hit her with a juice bottle on the head before strangling her to death and stealing her.
