Two traffic police cameras in Dhaid east of Sharjah city were damaged after unknown assailants opened fire at them, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
It was the second incident to involve shooting at police cameras in that area since November, when 11 cameras were attacked.
Police, quoted by the Arabic language daily Alittihad, said the two cameras on the road towards Dhaid were badly damaged in the shooting early Wednesday.
“Forensic experts went to the areas where they lifted fingerprints and filmed the shooting scene to identify the perpetrators of this crime,” the paper said.
Sharjah police have installed many traffic cameras on that road over the past months in a bid to curb accidents.
