Wife helps husband con woman friend of Dh800k

A couple is facing trial for allegedly duping a woman of Dh800,000 in a land deal.

According to a report in Al Khaleej, the victim sought the help of her neighbour friend to buy a plot of land. She, in turn asked her to speak to her husband who she claimed had right contacts in the field.

The husband allegedly asked the woman to pay Dh800,000 as fee to the broker.

The victim told the court that she borrowed the amount and made the payment to her friend’s husband. However, she did not ask for any receipt for the payment made.

After a few months, when the transaction did not materialize, she confronted her friend’s husband and demanded that he return the amount. When there was no response from him, she filed a police case.

But, unfortunately, as she had no proof of the transaction, the case was rejected.

She then filed a court case seeking compensation for psychological and financial harm she suffered.

Initial investigations reveal that the couple has defrauded several others similarly.
