A 55-year-old Emirati woman has filed a court case demanding a divorce from her husband in Ras Al Khaimah, saying he has never stopped beating her but has stopped supporting the family.
In her suit to the personal affairs court in the northern city, the unnamed woman also demanded Dh10,000 monthly alimony from her 60-year-old husband after divorce.
The woman told court that her husband has beaten her up and insulted her in front of her family for many years. She said he had also stopped supporting the family and paying rent although he is a pensioner and has no financial problems.
“The court tried to find a settlement acceptable to the couple but the wife refused any solution and insisted on divorce,” Emirat Alyoum daily said.
