A Pakistani woman, who offered 14 fake bracelets for sale to a jewellery shop, was sentenced to six months in jail by the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance.

NM, 33, who is on a visit visa, was also ordered to be deported after serving her jail term.

According to the records, on July 23, NM entered a well-known jewellery shop in a mall and offered to sell 14 bracelets after claiming they were made of 22 carat gold.

The salesman checked the bracelets because he suspected they were not made of 22 carat gold.

The woman presented a passport that carried a valid residency visa as an identification document.

The woman was reported to the security of mall and the police was also informed.

Police arrested the woman who insisted that the bracelets were not fake and that the passport was hers.

Taking a picture of her iris, police identified her as NM.

NM then admitted to using a forged passport. She also admitted that a man called Zubair had given her the bracelets together with the forged passport and asked her to sell them.
