A bank client was robbed of Dh2 million by a gang of four Arabs, including two women on March 5.

According to a report in Al Khaleej, the two women were tasked with zeroing in on potential victims and passing on information to the men who then planned out their attack.

Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim observed that this was an unusual case where women have been involved in a crime.

The victim, an Indian, was asked by his manager to cash a cheque worth Dh2m from the company’s account at a bank nearby their office. He along with the accountant went to the bank.

After he got the said amount from the bank, he placed the cash in an envelope and secured it in a plastic bag and the duo walked back to their office.

As they were nearing their company, a man appeared from behind and snatched the plastic bag and ran towards a waiting motorcycle ridden by another man.

They sped away before the victim could get hold of them.

Both of them were sporting helmets and so could not be recognized, said the victim.

Lt Col Saeed Al Eyaali, Director, Criminal Research Management, said the first suspect was caught hiding in a flat in Deira that belonged to the women.

Meanwhile, Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Director, Criminal Investigations Department, urged public to be cautious when handling money. Dubai Police has zero tolerance to such crimes, he added.
