A newly-hired Asian worker murdered his 75-year-old Emirati employer at his house in Buraimi in Oman apparently to steal him before fleeing the country on the same day.
Relatives found Marzouq Al Dahiri dead at his house in Buraimi near the eastern oasis town of Al Ain and phoned the Omani police, according to Alkhaleej newspaper.
Police said the worker, who recently replaced another Asian worker on leave, had hit the man with a sharp object on his head before stealing the house and fleeing.
The paper quoted police sources as saying the killer wrapped his victim with blankets and locked his room’s door and the house gate before heading for Muscat airport.
“Relatives visiting Al Dahiri on the next day found the house locked…they called his family in Al Ain but were told they had not seen him on that day,” the paper said.
“They then broke into the house and noticed that his shoes were in front of his room’s door which was also locked…they smashed the glass window and entered the room to find his body wrapped in blankets.”
