Young Emirati in Sharjah predicts own death

A 20-year-old Emirati man went into his bedroom for a noon siesta after having a meal with relatives but decided to text friends telling them he felt his death is close. He fell asleep without realising his hunch was true as he never woke up again.

Khalifa Mohammed had said he would have a short nap after eating with his family and other relatives in Almadam neighbourgood in Sharjah but it was nearly 6pm and he was still asleep. When his mother tried to jolt him out of bed, he had already gone.

A relative said Khalifa had lunch around 1.00 pm and then went to sleep for a short nap, adding that an SMS was found in his mobile predicting his own demise.

“He told all his friends in the message that he wondered how his family would receive the news of his death,” his relative Umm Maitha told Emirat Alyoum daily.

“He said that after his death, his mobile phone would certainly be switched off and that his pictures would be hung on walls….the message added ‘my dear friends…there has been frequent cases of sudden death…forgive me as I will soon go…I just want to be remembered as a nice thing in your life.”

Dubai-based Emarat Alyoum said preliminary examination showed Khalifa died of a heart attack while asleep.
