Dh250,000 camel killed by train in Saudi

A racing camel worth around Dh250,000 was killed after it was knocked over by a cargo train in Saudi Arabia, a newspaper said on Monday.

The train was on its way from the capital Riyadh to the eastern region of the world’s dominant oil power when a herd of camels tried to cross the road.

“The driver said he tried to stop the train but could not as the camels were too close…one camel was killed,” the Arabic language daily Sabq said.

It said the owner of the female camel, named “Jihada” said he had received an offer to sell it for SR250,000 (Dh250,000). “I agreed to sell Jihada but destiny was quicker than the deal,” he said.

Man ends life after delay in wedding

An Algerian man committed suicide by hanging himself at home after his parents insisted on delaying his wedding.

The 29-year-old man was found hanging in his room by his shocked father, who reported the incident to the police.

“They told police that their son apparently killed himself after they decided to delay his wedding,” the Algerian news agency said in a report from east Algeria.

Man kills wife on eve of daughter’s wedding

A Saudi man murdered his wife by stabbing her many times just a day before their daughter was to get married, a newspaper reported on Monday.

The man, in his 50s, rushed to the kitchen following an argument with his 61-year-old wife, got a knife and stabbed her in the neck and other parts of her body. She died on the way to hospital.

The murder at their home in the southern Saudi province of Jazan took place just a day before their elder daughter’s wedding, Alsaudeh daily said, adding that the couple have two sons and six daughters.

It quoted police as saying they have arrested the husband and are questioning him on the motives of murdering his wife.

Dentist suspended in Abu Dhabi

A dentist in Abu Dhabi has been suspended and his licence withdrawn following a complaint from an Emirati patient.

Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) initiated the step after a neutral expert investigated into the patient's allegations.

It is alleged that the dentist surgerically removed a tooth without the patient's consent. The Emirati was under his treatment for almost a yaer, but the dentist had not conducted a proper diagnosis before treating him, which led to several complications, reported 'Al Khaleej'.
