Disabled prisoner caught smuggling drugs

A handicapped Saudi prisoner jailed for drug dealing was caught trying to smuggle drugs into his prison cell in the Gulf kingdom, taking advantage of a court decision allowing him to be taken regularly to hospital.

Prison guards searching the prisoner returning in his wheel chair from hospital in the southern Saudi town of Baha found nearly 400 gram of hashish and 2,500 drug pills, the Arabic language ‘Okaz’ newspaper said.

“The drugs were brought by friends and hidden inside his bed at hospital…he tried to bring them to his cell but was caught by guards,” the paper said, quoting Ayoub bin Naheet, a spokesman for the Saudi prisons department.
