Saudi police arrested a local man after he tried to swindle a Saudi woman by fooling her into believing he works at the Monarch’s office.

The man, a government employee who had access to online messages sent to the Royal office, saw one message from a Saudi woman asking for financial help from King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz.

In his response to her, the man told the woman that he works at the King’s office and that the Monarch has approved SR250,000 ($66,000) in aid for her. But he told the woman she must first send SR7,000 ($1,865) in fees so he would transfer the sum to her.

“Police saw by chance that message and started procedures to track the man down…they contacted the woman who helped them in arresting the man, who is accused of swindling and impersonating an employee from the Royal Court,” Almasdar daily said in a report from the central town of Qasseem.
